The Square Peg: Travels with Suzuki

About me

Too many times in my life, I was a square peg in a round hole. I have done my best, over time, to square the hole. My photographs reflect my interest in wine & food, nature, landscapes, people and travel. While my career as a photographer dates from 1969, most of my current portfolio dates from my first digital camera in 2005. I Studied English, History, Political Science at University of the Witwatersrand, then Photography at The Polytechnic in London from 1967 to 1971, which included a year working at Sturlason a/s Polyfoto in Oslo, Norway. My fourth (final) year major was portraiture. I Practised as a photographer in Johannesburg till 1978, then joined AGFA as sales representative, later Regional Sales Manager in Johannesburg. I was Regional Manager in Cape Town 1986 till I took early retirement in 2002 I Qualified with a Diploma in Wine from the Cape Wine Academy in 1999 and my Wine Tourism licence was upgraded to Wine Industry Specialist. With my wife, Lynne, we started and ran Main Ingredient, speciality wine and food retailer 2002-10. We started MENU, our online wine, food and travel journal, in 2003 and we're still publishing most weeks
